Portal 2 DLC coming in summer
by Alice O'Connor, Apr 28, 2011 6:00am PDTIf you've already bested every Portal 2 test chamber and are clamouring for more puzzling merriment, developer Valve has good news for you.
"We will be announcing some DLC for it, so folks can keep a look out for more content coming this summer," Valve VP of marketing Doug Lombardi told Fast Company. "We'll be putting more details out about that in a week or so."
It would seem likely that the new content will focus on Portal 2's multiplayer side, as it's set up to be the part with staying power and already offers paid cosmetic character customisation options. More single-player content would of course also be welcome, mind.
The term "DLC" won't necessarily mean Valve charges for the new content, though, as it's also how the developer described big content updates for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2. These were all free on PC and Mac, but console players did have to pay for them. It'll be interesting to see if Valve's chummy Portal 2 partnership with Sony will result in anything different for PlayStation 3 owners.
Lombardi also has good news for fans of Portal 2's comic and splendid trailers, saying that the DLC will be supported "with more videos or more comics."
Portal 2 was released on PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3 last week, and is lovely. Point your peepers at our review for more words about how it's lovely.
