[Update 11:05 am] Firaxis has announced that in the US, the packs will be available for $4.99 each or bundled for $7.49.

[Original Story] Civilization V continues to roll on with more downloadable content. 2K games and Firaxis announced today that a Denmark Civilization and Scenario Pack and Explorers Map Pack will be coming next Tuesday for the standard price of £2.99, CVG reports.

In the scenario, "1066: Year of Viking Destiny," you choose one of four leaders to take control of the British Isles. The rules have been tweaked to make aggression the only path to securing the land, and each of the factions has unique units behind it. In the Denmark civilization, you'll take the role of Harald Bluetooth (920-986 AD), known as a wise king who always had a headset in his ear.

The Explorers pack adds ten new single-player maps. Five are based on real-world locales, like the Amazon, Caribbean, and Bering Strait. Others are scripted environments that change from game to game, but are built to focus on a theme -- like the Sandstorm map teased in the announcement

I chuckled at "The rules have been tweaked to make aggression the only path to securing the land."

The game still needs some (serious) work but they've released some big patches, have another coming out very soon, and won't be done there. I hammer this game more than anyone else on the shack, but their post release support his been pretty damn good for trying to get it up to snuff.

I'm noticing a pattern where patches seem tied to DLC (i.e. they come out around the same time). I wonder how much patching it further depends on DLC sales.

The info on the next upcoming patch is on the 2k forums. They're still concentrating mostly on the single player portion of the game atm. I know there are plenty of people who want the multiplayer to be worked on, but getting single player hammered down first is probably the right thing to do in the long term because everything that happens in single player can and does happen in multiplayer.

That actually sounds like a very fun scenario.

It is £2.99 not $2.99. It will be $5 I think.

I love all the changes/fixes they've made so far. Even more addicting unfortunately.
I still have no desire to buy dlc though. Maybe when they're all packaged into one I might be. Maybe. I think. Could happen.

I don't really get all the Civ V DLC. $5 seems like a lot for what you're getting.

they don't care because someone will buy it for whatever ridiculous price they put it at.

Denmark? Come on, why not just make Vikings? I'm fine with Bluetooth as leader, but Vikings is a better faction as Vikings also was Norwegians and Swedes.
