Red Faction: Armageddon demo on XBLA and PSN next week, skipping PC
by Alice O'Connor, Apr 27, 2011 6:00am PDTA downloadable taste of Volition's smash-happy shooter Red Faction: Armageddon is on the way, slated to crash onto Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network on May 4. Sadly, the news is less good for PC gamers who also enjoy 'sploding things on Mars.
The demo takes place in that most exciting of video game environments--the sewers. Space-sewers, mind. Armed with weapons including the destruct-o-licious Magnet Gun, and the Nano Forge all-in-one repair kit to undo your magnetised mayhem, you'll get to blast through hordes of the awakened aliens. Aliens are, of course, known for their love of sewers.
"Unfortunately, no," there are not plans for a PC demo, Volotion community manager J Goldberg has said on Twitter. So it goes.
Of course, the PS3 demo will depend upon Sony getting the PlayStation Network back up and running. The online service is currently down following a serious hack and Sony's recovery plan may only see "some services" resorted by the time the demo's due.
"I'd have to assume that if PSN is still down next week (I seriously hope not), once it comes back up, the demo will be available at that point," Goldberg said on the Red Faction forums.
Red Faction: Armageddon is due to be released in full for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 31, published by THQ. For more, check out our recent single-player and multiplayer hands-on previews.
