Section 8: Prejudice for the Xbox 360 lets you play online using standard Microsoft servers like any other Xbox Live Arcade game, but if you're extremely devoted to your Section 8 experience, you can now rent dedicated servers. TimeGate Studios announced a partnership with GameServers to let players check out dedicated servers for up to 32 players. You can make the servers ranked or unranked, and customize gameplay settings, maps, modes, and difficulty levels. The feature is an unusual one for consoles, since dedicated servers are usually PC-only, or tailored by the publishers on consoles.

Of course, it comes at a price. The servers cost $1.29 per player with a 10-player minimum, and the added cost of a voice server brings it up to $14.95 for one month -- making the lowest-cost option nearly the price of the game itself. Discounts are available at the 3-month, 6-month, and 12-month tiers.

"We're excited to provide this feature to the Xbox 360 community,” said TimeGate president Adel Chaveleh in the announcement. "Players who rent dedicated servers from GameServers can customize their server so they can play with their clans and friends how and when they want. It's all about giving more control to the player."

The $15 shooter is coming to PC on May 4, and will hit PlayStation Network sometime this summer.
