Phantasy Star Online 2 screens and video were revealed at a fan appreciation event in Japan.

Anoop Gantayat over at andriasang.com shared the scoop on the first Phantasy Star Online 2 screens and more info on the game from a fan appreciation event held in Japan on Sunday. Producer Satoshi Sakai told fans the development team wants to restore the sense of adventure they feel has been lost in modern role playing games.

Along with echoing the theme of adventure, the video below shows plenty of in-game action and yes, characters can now jump!

Though no information on a release outside Japan has been given and thus far it is only announced for PC there, given the history of the franchise there's reason to expect a console version is in the works. With any luck perhaps it will be announced at E3. In the meantime check out the full crop of screens.

I am soooo happy to finally see something of it, and that something is actually good stuff.

I also feel compelled to note, before someone comments, that the game is in a pre-alpha state and that the gameplay and graphics are liable to change *drastically* over the course of its development.

The fact that they're having a semi-public *alpha* test is highly unusual... I am curious to see how this plays out.

The Phantasy Star series died after the 4th installment. Bring back the JRPG style.
