Rumor: God of War 4 coming September 2012

A report from unofficial PlayStation magazine PSM3 claims that God of War 4 is on the way, and will be hitting in September 2012.

Kratos may be fitting his gauntlets for a new madcap murder spree next year, according to the unofficial PlayStation magazine PSM3 (via CVG). The magazine claims that it will be coming in September 2012, which would break from the series tradition of spring releases. CVG also cites unverified rumors that the next installment will include online co-op.

Kratos' fate in God of War 3 was ambiguous, but left serious hints that the character lives on in come capacity. The game was released in March of 2010, so an autumn 2012 release seems reasonable. If true, this could be announced at Sony's E3 presentation this year. As usual, consider this a rumor until we hear it from Sony's mouth.

In the meantime, try to figure out what he'll take on next. Kratos has pretty much wiped out all of the Olympians and Titans by this point, so who's left to brutally murder? Maybe he'll move on to other arcane religions and start wiping out large swaths of Valhalla.

As much as I like the games, by the end of it you figure that the world would be a much better place without Kratos.

Eh, I've probably had my fill of rage already.

Unless this is a new character with a more interesting story, count me out.

Honestly, I'm kinda done with Kratos, I think. 3 was a solid capper and I don't really need more.

3 was a disappointment, also why? The story ended pretty neatly as a trilogy..

I'll second that. He was always a bigger wang than the tallest man in China.

I think he's always been a dick, but I found you could somewhat sympathize with him in GoW 1 and 2. But in 3 he seemed to be a full fledged asshole.

ya he was, but he still sorta did the right thing by killing the gods as they had been brainwashed by Pandora's Box.

      Son of Kratos?

Book is shut on that story and character as far as I am concerned. This is just dragging things out because Sony's first party PS3 lineup never delivered any real megahits outside of Uncharted. The story reached its natural climax/conclusion with GoW3. Time to move on. Such is the curse of single player game.

Give it a break. God of War stands on it's own, enough people love it so it wouldn't matter if there were 100 awesome ps3 exclusives.

Okay lets see how the pans out, I do remember reading that when God Of War first came out it was supposed to span more than just Greek Pantheon of Gods. There were talks about going in Norse Mythology and Mythologies as well. So lets see.
