Delays for The Last Guardian, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
by Alice O'Connor, Apr 20, 2011 1:00pm PDTI come bearing bad news for people who relish the destruction of beautiful creatures. The Last Guardian and Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection have both been delayed, Sony has announced on the PlayStation Blog. The Last Guardian was previously due in the 2011 holiday season, while the Collection was expected this spring.
"To provide more challenging and better quality of content to users and to fulfill First Party Studio's obligations, I decided to postpone its release timing," director Fumito Ueda of developer Team Ico explained in a statement. "All the members of my production team are working together at a fast pace to develop and release the game in First Party Studio quality."
"I sincerely apologize to all the customers who have been waiting for 'The Last Guardian' for so long, but I beg for your patience," Ueda said. "I will also announce the new release timing at a later time."
The Collection spruces up Team Ico's PlayStation 2 classics Shadow of the Colossus and Ico for PS3 with HD resolutions, PlayStation Network trophies and 3D support. They'll prepare players for The Last Guardian, which will conclude the Ico trilogy with almost-certain heartbreak.
