For those tired of kicking baddies off bridges and whipping adversaries into intricate traps, a new experience awaits you. As promised, Bulletstorm owners have been granted access to the Gears of War 3 multiplayer beta as of today.

The Gears of War 3 beta gives players four arenas to test their skills and a chance to unlock a few choice bonuses in the final game, provided they meet very specific requirements.

On April 25, Gears of War 3 pre-order holders that decided to skip the colorful world (and language) of Bulletstorm will gain access to the beta test.

Gears of War 3 launches exclusively for the Xbox 360 on September 20, 2011.

Wish they had private matches for the beta. Playing in these public matches I am getting destroyed most of the time. As well, 2 bloody maps to start with?

I haven't pre-ordered yet as they haven't announced what version does what. Kind of silly to tell everyone to pre-order and then not tell them what is in each version.

Oh no knocks on the deal or anything. Since I am not in the US Amazon doesn't work for me. If I knew what was in each bundle I would pre-order and then I would have an extra code to give someone. That is what I found silly. Would like to help you out, but until I know that the $150 version does not include any extra maps (which I doubt it does) I am holding off on my pre-order.

If you can install tweet-deck and subscribe the usual threads (therealcliffyb etc). They are giving away codes on there. Also, underneath the Amazon instructions there apparently is a 'USB' method to get into the beta. Don't know if Epic/Microsoft are considering it 'Ban Worthy', but that would be up for you to decide.

I should probably add I don't think the beta is meeting the expectations of Epic. Last night the highest I saw the amount of people only is 52,000. Usually it is around 37,000 from what I can tell. Epic was saying that they are hoping to have 1 million in the beta. I guess it is possible that 950,000 people pre-ordered to get into the beta, but it seems unlikely.

Last night was fun, not because I was in a match with people of my own skill level, but because me and some friends partied up, and then the other team quit and we never got matched up with anyone again. 2 hours of boosting against bots goes a long way to getting that golden retro lancer.

For those interested an average game length I am seeing is about 6-8 minutes. So you are looking at about 9 hours to unlock the Golden Retro Lancer, and then 100 kills on top of that. Maybe the other gametypes that are locked will be quicker, but for now that is it.
