Alice: Madness Returns includes free American McGee's Alice
by Alice O'Connor, Apr 18, 2011 9:30am PDTThe original American McGee's Alice is coming to consoles and a download code will be included free with new copies of Alice: Madness Returns, designer American McGee has told CVG.
"A person who's purchased Madness Returns gets a download code and is able to bring Alice 1 onto their console and play through the entire original game alongside playing Madness Returns," said McGee.
Presumably Alice will be released and sold separately as an Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network network title, with the code simply entitling owners to a free download. Certainly this is usually the case with such offers.
The original Alice was only ever released for PC and Mac. While a PlayStation 2 edition had been in development, it ended up cancelled.
One would hope that American McGee's Alice will be re-released for download on PC too, as the original disc version can be difficult to get hold of. It's not rare to see used copies selling for $50 on eBay--as much as it'll cost you to buy Madness Returns new.
McGee also revealed that Madness Returns will receive extra dresses for Alice as downloadable content. "Those dresses come with special abilities and enhance how you play through the game," he explained. Who doesn't enjoy a good bit of gothic dress-up?
Alice: Madness Returns is due to be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 14, developed by Spicy Horse.
