Twisted Metal gets early access to Axel as pre-order bonus

Twisted Metal fans will get early access to the classic character Axel as a pre-order bonus at participating retailers.

The long-awaited Twisted Metal revival is getting an homage to its roots in the form of a pre-order bonus. Today the PlayStation Blog revealed that pre-ordering the upcoming title will give players "early access" to the classic character Axel, as well as his two-wheel monstrosity -- both of which are locked at the start of the game

The blog says Axel is available from "participating retailers," which according to the Twisted Metal site includes GameStop, Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Best Buy. The offer seems to go for North America only, but we've contacted Sony to check for our European friends.

Twisted Metal is set to hit retail, exclusively on PlayStation 3, on October 4.

I don't care about a game coming in October. I want the game that should have come out already. Motorstorm: Apocalypse. Sony. Stop being stupid. Japan suffered a tragedy. I get that. The rest of the world feels for you, but the game is not the same as your tragedy.

Do US publishers stop all war games when the US decides to once again start another war? No. We go to war and we enjoy our war games at the same time because contrary to what the nutjobs who think games cause violence think, the two things are completely unrelated. Release it already.

This would be a perfect summer game, releasing it in October - especially this year - seems like a mistake with so many other big games coming out.
