[Original] Developer 11bit Studios strategic action game debut, Anomaly: Warzone Earth, has just been released for PC and Mac, and is now available on Steam, the Mac App Store, and GamersGate. It's normally priced at $9.99, but is currently only $8.99 on Steam at the moment, thanks to a ten percent launch-week discount.
Set on Earth in the near-future, Anomaly is sort of like an action-packed game of tower defense in reverse, where you play as the attackers. You'll be able to plan and change your route on the fly, buy and upgrade new units, and send those aliens packing.
From the press release:
The game tasks you with saving a near-future Earth from an alien onslaught. The invaders have captured the world’s major cities, building huge turrets that destroy everything in their path. It’s up to you to lead an armor squad through the streets of cities like Baghdad and Tokyo, planning the route and strategically choosing which units to deploy in order to crush the opposition.
Players also assume control of the Commander, who is able to move independently and throw down power-ups to protect the convoy throughout a robust story-mode campaign and two Squad Assault Modes.
