Resistance 3 beta comes early for SOCOM 4 buyers

Sony is including vouchers for early Resistance 3 beta access with specially marked and Full Deployment Editions of SOCOM 4.

Sony is encouraging purchases of SOCOM 4 with the promise of early access to the beta of another anticipated PlayStation 3-exclusive shooter, Resistance 3. The PlayStation Blog announced that if a SOCOM 4 box bears a Resistance 3 sticker, a voucher code is included. The blog didn't indicate what percentage of SOCOM 4 boxes will include the voucher.

Vouchers are also included in all Full Deployment Editions of SOCOM 4, which includes the Move controller, sub-controller, PlayStation Eye, and the Move sharp shooter. Throwing the voucher in as well makes sense, considering it's $149.99.

The announcement didn't include details on when the beta would be open to other PlayStation Network users, but details are said to be coming on the voucher code sheet. Resistance 3 isn't due until September 6, so we've probably still got a while before the beta kicks off.

This is starting to become almost as annoying as pre-order bonuses. No matter how I feel about that, still: "select copies" seems to imply that one person who buys SOCOM 4 will get the game plus another piece of entertainment worth potentially numerous hours (at a later date), while someone else paying the same amount for SOCOM 4 standard edition will not get that extra content, and that's hardly right. It's like a raffle where there are tons of prizes to win but tickets are $60.

Then again, I think the SOCOM 4 beta was in "select copies" of Killzone 3, and I never saw a copy of Killzone 3 without that SOCOM sticker on the box.

I still haven't tried the socom4 beta, cause after downloading it from the PSN store, you gotta sit through a mongo-sized download from the socom4 beta servers (like 1.5 gigs) and that goes at a snail's pace

Leave it over night, so far SOCOM beta is sweeeeeet. Major improvements over the past SOCOM's. I wasn't going to purchase SOCOM till i played the beta. The only downside for the retail version is that it only has 9 maps. Also in the beta they have diff game modes where only certain weapons can be used which makes it more enjoyable. Plus you can carry 2 primary weapons. So far its great.

Yeah, it took me about 4 hours to get to actually play the beta from the moment I sat down and thought "Hey, lets try the beta!".
