Good Old Games has announced a new partner will be bringing its collection of titles to the DRM-free service. Funbox Media Ltd. kicks off its GOG.com launch by announcing two titles: Guilty Gear X2 #Reload and Realms of the Haunting.

The adventure-horror title Realms of the Haunting is available now for $5.99. The first-person perspective title from 1996 also includes its eerie soundtrack as a bonus item when purchased on GOG.com. Guilty Gear's debut is listed as "coming soon" for $5.99.

According to the announcement post on the digital download service's blog, other titles as part of the partnership "will become available in the near future." Though specific titles were not listed, a quick glance at Funbox Media's PC catalog leads us to believe GOG will soon serve players the opportunity to become the next Top Model.

The headline implies that Guilty Gear is out, so I changed it! It's actually "coming soon" (as it says in the story).

I've been wanting to try Realm of the Haunting, so this is an instant purchase foe me. I'm going on a retro gaming kick after Portal 2.

The game was great back in the day. I got stumped somewhere along the lines and never got back to it. Tempted to get it again, but I'm not sure if I can get past the dated graphics and controls.

Lands of Lore was another game I loved and never finished.

Nostalgia may help you with getting past the dated aspects of the game.

            That's what I'm hoping.

Attaboy. My nostalgia has given me the ability to appreciate not only games I've played in my younger age, but games I'd never played before, but are similar enough to those I did. For example, the Infinity Engine D&D RPGs were something that I actually had to give two fair shots. Once I got past the fact that it was nothing like Diablo, despite looking similar, it was a fairly straightforward trek that I thoroughly enjoyed. The fact that it looked like Diablo, I game that I also really liked, was just a bonus.

I can usually overlook dated graphics and gameplay issues, but basically my biggest issue with older games is the controls. This game had wonky controls back in the day so it may make it that much worse for me now. Fortunately it seems like it's possible to remap the keys.

Regardless, I bought it and it's downloading now. Worst case scenario is I'm out $6. Only bad news is is that I have enough of a backlog as it is and I don't need to be adding these old games to it. :)

I still have my original boxed copy of ROTH and still remember the FMV video that played at the beginning. I remember thinking that was the future of gaming!

I gave mine away to a friend a a long time ago. He's actually still got it and offered to give it back since he has no use for it anymore. I'm trying to purge myself of that sort of stuff but I'm kind of tempted to get it back now.

Guilty Gear would get eaten up if it had online multi.

It's all relative. It has a community just like Guilty Gear does, and that community wouldn't mind an iteration they can play online.

Have fighting games ever really been big on PC? I think SF4 is the first one I've really seen anyone get excited about.

The people who want arcade perfect emulation have been playing fighters on the PC for a long time. Illegally, but yeah.

Not compared to consoles. But GGPO has a notably large community of hardcore fighters playing all kinds online. I don't think anyone's reasonably opposed to the idea. If anything the really hardcore wouldn't mind having a platform that will support their favorite games (arcade stick) over several console generations, never being bothered to buy and rebuy the same game.

It's probably a harder sell for the mainstream, but I don't think it's impossible, either.
