Square Enix announced today that a revamped version of classic JRPG Final Fantasy V is in development for PlayStation 3 and PSP, headed for a downloadable release via the PlayStation Network.
"All-new CG cinematic sequences exclusive to the PSN edition" are promised, but Square Enix offered very few details beyond that. One imagines the publisher would have mentioned if Final Fantasy IV was being revamped with new graphics, like the April 19-due Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection compilation.
The PSN edition's price and release date have not been revealed. Final Fantasy V was originally released on SNES back in 1992.
Square Enix had been looking at making a Nintendo DS versions of FFV and FFVI, but "technical issues" have left them placed on hold.
