Choplifter franchise coming back on PC, PSN
by Steve Watts, Mar 28, 2011 2:00pm PDTInXile Entertainment announced today that it is developing Choplifter HD, a revival of the classic franchise, for the PC and PlayStation Network. A release date wasn't mentioned for the project. InExile is currently also working on Hunted: The Demon's Forge, due out on June 1.
Details on Choplifter HD were scant, but according to the announcement, you'll join the rescue team C.H.O.P.R. (Coordinated Helicopter Operations, Preservation and Rescue), because everything is better with acronyms. You'll then perform missions like rescuing military prisoners of war and victims of a viral outbreak.
"First playing and loving the original Choplifter on my Apple II, then watching the franchise expand into arcades and the early console systems helped seed my passion for building lasting, quality gameplay experiences," said company president Brian Fargo in the announcement. "The feedback on creating a fresh take on Choplifter has been incredibly positive. We all have so many fond memories of playing the first game and the fun of rescuing people in hostile situations is timeless."
