Another small group of former Bizarre Creations employees have founded their own new studio in the aftermath of owner Activision shutting the developer down.

"Micro studio" Hogrocket consists of Geometry Wars creator Stephen Cakebread, Bizarre studio communications manager Ben Ward, and Peter Collier, senior level designer on The Club and James Bond 007: Blood Stone. Contractors are rounding out the development team.

Hogrocket will be creating games for PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad, at least initially. Ben Ward notes on his blog that "We're currently prototyping a cool idea and it's looking really nice, but the next stage (now that we're announced) is to let our friends play the game and take their feedback on board."

Another group of former Bizarre employees formed their own studio in February, named Lucid Games.

Bizarre Creations closed its doors in February after owner Activision failed to find a buyer. Activision cited action-racer Blur's poor commercial showing and "broader economic factors impacting the market" as reasons for closing down the English studio.

now we may see another incarnation of Geometry Wars. As far as I've heard Cakebread was shafted quite hard at Bizarre given the success of Geometry Wars and that's why there was never any more

I've always been curious if the creator of Geometry Wars got anything out of it.

Between these two studios.... we might actually end up getting even cooler games than we would have if MS had kept them around. This might end up being a good thing.
