Downloadable platformer Outland will be coming to the PlayStation Network in late April or early May, the PlayStation Blog revealed today. Though the post didn't provide a specific date, an official tweet from Housemarque confirmed that it will hit Xbox Live Arcade "around the same time."

The game was revealed last year, and playable at PAX 2010. It's drawn comparisons to Ikaruga for the ability to shift between enemy alignments to dodge fire, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for its exploration elements, and Out of this World for its art style. That means it could be a treat for retro gamers.

The announcement came with a new slew of screenshots, so take a look in our gallery and let us know what you think.

It sucks when good multiplatform games don't get PC releases.

Man can you imagine if we had wide spread usage of the internet in the early 90's? Then this shit would be tiring to hear by now.

The look of the game really reminds me of Flashback.. that old rotoscoped game that came out on the SNES and Genesis.

Of course.. now that I read the description... it mentions Out of this World which was made by the same people (as far as I remember).
