Dragon Age Legends launches on Facebook

After spending quite a while in beta, Dragon Age Legends officially launched today on Facebook. The free-to-play RPG is available directly from the site you use to see pictures of your drunk friends, and unlocks bonus content in Dragon Age 2. Unfortunately, this means your drunk friends will know you're a nerd.

Of course, like any Facebook game, it encourages you to invite your friends into your party. On the other hand, it actually functions as a fairly competent old-school RPG, which is more than we can say for most Facebook click-fests. Give it a shot and let us know what you think in the comments.

It's not bad, I've been playing it for the last week or so. It's nice in that it's quite playable even if you don't have a lot of facebook friends playing it, and don't spam your feed with garbage.

I've actually been enjoying it a lot. The combat has some nice strategy to it, and the asset management is pretty cool as well (health & mana regen tied to workers in your castle). I'd like to see more loot available for purchase with other than real world dollars, but other than that it's pretty sweet!

That video was well animated! I'm not sure if i'll be playing this, as i've yet to purchase DA2, but I really liked that trailer/video thing

you don't need DA2. it's actually handy if you haven't played it yet because there are 4-5 items to unlock for DA2 while you play. The fifth didn't have a way to unlock it yet last time i played though.

it prompts before posting stuff to your wall so it is actually a pretty non obtrusive facebook app. when you level up it asks you if you want to share with your friends or not. skip it and carry on silently. friend nagging is completely up to you as it doesnt trick you to invite your friends.

It's worth checking out if you're looking for a decent RPG you can play in spurts throughout the day.

The usual bait and hook Facebook garbage. I played for about 15 minutes before they want me to spend $99.90 for 5000 crowns, which might last a day, I figure. Why do people play this garbage? I think I'll go play the real Dragon Age now.

What are you doing that you need to spend crowns? The game's basically set up so that you log in, do 3 or so encounters and wait a few hours while your guys recover and you don't have to spend a dime.

"Wait a few hours while your guys recover" sounds like a fun and original game mechanic! I will rush off to facebook now to experience this wonderful new creation.

they use it as a way to recruit your friends for less waiting and to sell optional currency for the game. if you let your dudes die during battle youre in for a long wait. all said and done it is a free to play facebook game that does use real money if you want to take shortcuts. can you blame them though? i would rather them make these types of games with interesting EA properties than just more farmville clones (which i have never played but i bet the structure of the game is somewhat similar besides the combat)

It's a free to play social game with entirely optional microtransactions. I'm not sure what you were expecting here? Are you really looking to sit down and play a facebook game for 3 hours straight?

it's a decently fun game and you can get far without micro-transactions, i have unlcoked all 4 items available right now without having to spend money or more then 3 hours on the game, so really thats pretty nice.

Anyone playing this interested in adding another person to their party? it sucks that the only way to do this is to add facebook friends, but that just requires us to be friends!
