Battlefield 3 gameplay trailer deploys explosives

The second BF3 gameplay trailer has arrived, demonstrating the simplest way to remove an embedded sniper--explosives.

The second Battlefield 3 gameplay trailer figuratively explodes onto our screens today, bringing the edited highlights of another mission, culminating in a virtual building literally exploding. It's but one small section of the single-player preview Xav recently experienced.

Developed by DICE and published by EA, Battlefield 3 is scheduled for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in fall 2011. Do check out our interview with DICE GM Karl Magnus Troedsson, covering topics including the studio's belief in PC gaming, BF3's multiplayer focus, and making things kersplode.

Big event to announce a product that is either available after the conference or in a couple weeks.

I agree to an extent. No game is as good as its trailers. Being a PC veteran, I have become imune to such advertising. Seeing so many fuckups in the business in the last 10 years automatically makes you a skeptic.
The only ones hyped by these types of trailers are young and/or immature gamers.

Except these guys have consistently delivered and have an excellent history. Plus they're iterating on what is already one of the premier online games (Bad Company 2).

...excellent history of releasing a buggy mess, only saved by gameplay that can NOT be found elsewhere.

If someone was able to capture everything in a BF game, a direct clone of it, but was able to ensure that it was 99% bug free / balanced on day-1, it would wipe DICE out.

Sad fact of life. I love you DICE, but I always want more from you.

The next installment will feature the sniper leaping off the balcony, punching silk and floating to a nearby helocipter and taking off, cackling madly in whatever language they're gibbering in. Then it will get 10 feet off the ground, flip over and explode.

That looks pretty boring. If this was a MP game, the player would maybe duck out of cover a few times and plug the sniper in the head. Instead you're regulated to shuffling behind AI and waiting. At the end, the whole squad is crawling on their bellies behind minimal cover. We get the point, cover stops bullets.

Less scripted sequences, more MP helicopters.

Are you that retarded? You even stated, "If this was a MP game"... They are showing snips from the single player. Duh! :rolls eyes:

        • reply
          March 16, 2011 4:03 PM

"Retarded"? You really feel it was necessary to use that word?

My point is that gamers have seen it all. We've survived earthquakes, buildings falling down, shot down helicopters, blown up tanks, etc etc. In this preview vid, we spend 2 minutes behing handheld (following AI) in order to down a single sniper. How thrilling is that?
