Torchlight XBLA leads to highest Runic sales day
by Steve Watts, Mar 15, 2011 11:15am PDTTorchlight has seen unprecedented success on Xbox Live Arcade, according to developer Runic Games. The company announced today that the Xbox 360 launch resulted in the best sales day for the game so far.
The game launched last week as one of the tent poles of Microsoft's "House Party" promotion, so the exposure had to have helped. Still, it's an impressive feat given the number of times Steam has hosted discounts on the game.
"We're very excited to bring Torchlight to the 360, and have really been gratified by the positive reaction," said Runic president Travis Baldree in the announcement. "It's affirming to know that console players love this genre as much as we do. We think the experience translates pretty well to the couch."
