Sony announced a new Ape Escape game today on the PlayStation Blog, complete with PlayStation Move support. It's due this summer in the US for the PlayStation 3, as a downloadable PSN game.

The game consists of 500 monkeys to collect among 15 levels. It will also feature a versus mode with mini-games like Tag Rally, Slingsnipe, and Sprayzer Defense Force.

Details were scant aside from the title and debut trailer. Check it out and let us know if you're looking forward to hunting down some monkeys in HD, and with motion controls.

I remember seeing Ape Escape on the PS1 demo unit. Considering that it was one of the first titles to demand usage of the analog sticks, it's good to see Sony carrying this over to the Move, where the controls will map far better to the character actions.

The first one was good back in the day. I always liked the different descriptions for every single monkey.

Awesome. Ape Escape is a pretty great series. About the only thing I don't like about it is that damned paddle propeller thing. You know, where you have to spin the stick really quickly to float. God, I hate doing that.

Other than that, the games are the bee's knees and are criminally overlooked by a lot of people :(
