S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat is getting some fan-made enhancements as part of the previously released Complete mod series, and now we know the details. Artist Pavel released a thorough run-down today, including everything from bug fixes and graphical enhancements to new features.

Graphical adjustments include distant scenery texturing, 11 weather cycles, 26 weather sky cube textures, more landmarks visible on the horizon, a high resolution constellation map for night, and more. Textures on buildings, weapons, forest, terrain, and vehicles have also been improved.

The sound is also getting a bit of an overhaul, with new ambient sounds, sound themes, and weapon sounds. The Complete mod will also include 23 new compositions, and new guitar tracks for the campfire music sets created for the game.

The AI tweaks let NPCs choose appropriate weapons, use add-ons, avoid friendly fire, and use melee attacks and medkits. Players will also be able to equip their allies with their own weapons of choice by dropping or selling them.

Various bug fixes include unreachable stashes, jupiter scanners, the one shot mission bug, the helmet fix, and the removal of bodies to improve performance. The mod will also fix various localization errors like grammar and misspellings.

This is all wrapped up with general tweaks, like loot money from dead NPCs, modernized scopes and improved nightvision, teleporting, and an item spawner. For a spot of fun, players will also be able to opt to turn NPCs into zombies upon an emission wave.

All of this barely scratches the surface of all the modifications in Complete, so check out the blog for full details. We've slipped the trailer above, and you can always enjoy some pretty screenshots as well.

Thought the title it read Mod group releases Call of Pripyat Complete at first which had me excited until I realized it was just the details. Can't wait though will give me a reason to fire up Pripyat again as that game had such a great atmosphere.

I'll be waiting for this before I start with COP. I'm just worried that my gtx260 won't be able to handle this.

I've played through this with high settings on 1680x1050 and no problemo on GTX 260 with eycandy like sunrays and wet surfaces enabled.

These guys really do some great work, and it does show! The game already looks great but they add a new level to it.

Ive only ever played STALKER through these complete mods, so I never got a good sense for what elements are new/improved and what's vanilla. I tend to believe though that if it's broken or shoddy then it must be vanilla =).

Cromm's new emissions look great. I wonder if it has the radioactive and acid rain emissions as well. Played a different mod with them all active and it barely allowed you time to run between missions and areas. Having the stalkers caught outside turn zombie was good though providing a lot of action and loot opportunities.

I wonder if they add new weapons from the Arsenal mods? I always want new weapons that spawn with the enemies in the world and be able to upgrade that as well...Anyone know?

I'd love an AKM and some other 7.62x39 weapons...they seem like a good addition.

        Maybe a vz.82 as well...vz.82's are cool.

        How so?

I'm curious because once I ante up my PC hardware this year, I was planning on taking S.T.A.L.K.E.R. out for a spin, and it was sounding like I should just go ahead and use Complete from the get-go.

making Stalker darker makes it more like CODMW? I'm not following this one at all

I'd have to completely disagree. The dark night really adds to the atmosphere and makes stealthy gameplay viable. It's frightening to be running around the dark with no NVG and having a monster squeel and run after you suddenly. Nothing in the game compares to the arcadeyness of MW.

Does "distant scenery texturing" mean no more object pop in?

The included Absolute Nature and Absolute Structures texture packs solve the game’s most noticeable visual shortcoming: overall blurry textures and noticeable grass pop-in.

Thanks awesome. Now I just gotta play some SoC so I can play Pripyat. These games are kick ass.

as I understand it, this means the underlying texture more closely matches the color of the grass, so it isn't as obvious where/when it pops in

Friendly Fire - NPCs avoid friendly fire, and they will even stop firing and switch positions if their allies get caught in it.

Good, going thru the tunnel to Pripyat, my team shot me a bunch of times.

That music and stuff sounds excellent. Is that from the game or just for the trailer, and is it by some known artist? I have yet to install and play this game although I bought it a long time ago. One of these days. ...

I played through vanilla Pripyat and it was a very smooth and awesome experience, yet I am still very much looking forward to this mod so I have a reason to take a peak around in the game world again.

        My feelings exactly.

CoP was already a near-perfect culmination of refinements from the previous games. The thought that a great game can get better makes it hard to wait.
