Dark Souls screenshots: ghoulies galore

Have you ever fought a dragon with a gaping, rib-toothed mouth in its chest? You will in the multiplatform follow-up to Demon's Souls.

16
Demon's Souls had its fair share of hideous monsters to slay and its spiritual successor Dark Souls is certainly no slouch in that area, as this new round of screenshots shows.

Do not be fooled by their boogying.

Whether you're fighting small bands of skellingtons or gigantic fiery demons, you can be certain of one thing--slip up and you're a goner, as Dark Souls intends to also be punishingly and delightfully difficulty. You'll be able to see for yourself when it hits Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year, developed by From Software and published by Namco Bandai.

Wow, looks great. This is one of my most anticipated titles this year. I don't have a PS3 so I've never seen the previous game... but I keep hearing about it. I'm not afraid of a challenge... sounds like good fun.

It's awesome once you realize you can't rush it. I'd advise using a FAQ or walkthrough though, once you feel like you're banging your head against a wall. Some parts are stupid and counter intuitive, but overall it's worth the research and time IMO>

If you are looking for fun you have come to the wrong place. If DS is one thing is not fun, it more like painful, annoying, unforgiving, unfair, just stupid.

valcan_s, I like you and all, but you're simply wrong. You just aren't HARD GAME CLUB enough for DS.

IAWTHGCP. DS is a masterpiece, and you cannot begin to understand its majesty unless you are willing to bleed a little. Just a little. Demons Souls is not greedy, it wont take much, just a drop or two to appease the Maiden.

            Agree :)

It beat me up, kicked me in the nutz took all my money and then just laughed at me "hahahaha you SUCK!"

Then I cried in a corner and said "Whhhyyyyyyyyyyyyy Damn you" next day sold the game and then had nightmares for a couple weeks of the ordeal.

Thats DS in a nut shell for my self.

Demon's Souls, and other associated games, are plenty of fun, in the Dwarf Fortress sense of the word.

If DS had a good internal faq (I hate running to the internet to learn basic stuff about a game) it would be perfect. My first weekend playing was a pure black tendency event... if i'd known what that was it would have been a smoother intro.

Looks really nice(way better than DS), too bad its going to be hard as shit. I will give it a chance but I fear it will be just like DS and retardley un fun hard so I will hate it.

Would it kill them to have a difficulty slider for those that are not Insanely Hardcore :(

      All well we will see.

      Where's the PC version... :<
Seems trivial to port over the 360 version over to the PC too and they'd probably make a killing on the German market with that given their love for old-school fantasy RPGs. I just can't believe it's not even being considered. Could dust off my 360 for it I guess, but I'm buying a new GPU this month so...WHERE'S MY PC VERSION. >:[

Demon's Souls is awesome. How can you make it better? Maybe more items? Can't wait to get my hands on it.

More items, spells, enemies, armor, etc. Make a few things a little clearer to the player so they don't have to go to a 3rd party site as much (though the Demon's Souls wiki guy has been asked to officially do the Dark Souls wiki). Other than that just give me the same mechanics with new levels and I'll be plenty happy.

I just got Demon's Souls recently, but haven't really had a chance to play it. The intro level wasn't hard until the end. I kept wondering why people were always calling this hard. Then I got to the end and died in a real level. AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh... ok now I get it.

Will this game scratch my Too Human Itch? I was hoping the original would make it to 360.

The combat was super fun. Once you learned the controls, using the sticks for attacks was super fun. Each class felt distinct, and the loot rewards were as addicting as the best action RPGS. The coop was more difficult, but more rewarding as really had to know your character abilities and work together to take out enemies.

The story was terrible. Just ignore it.

I agree with everything here. Great combat system using the sticks. The classes were really well balanced to make for some cool co-op combinations. I like the options of fine tuning your stats by playing Human or trading off for elaborate special attacks for Cybernetic, all dictated by your gear (great for more and more looting fun).

Yes its an awesome game, I had wished they finish chapter 2 and 3 :( I am not sure if they will ever come out, which freaking sucks.

This game and DS is the total opposite of Too Human, sorry bro you would not like it :( (unless they ditch the hard factor, which they said they won't it will be only harder) we shall see.

SK currently has more than one title in the works. One is that X-Men game, which I'm hoping is basically a souped up Too Human. There's also Titan in the Maelstrom, which is sort of semi-unannounced but could very possibly be the next Too Human.

Lots of info to be gleaned from the TooHuman.net forums.
