Nintendo president Satoru Iwata may have slipped the first indication of when to expect The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time 3D during today's GDC keynote speech.

Iwata mentioned off-the-cuff during his address that the company "hopes" to bring the game out in June. The wording doesn't exactly instill us with confidence. It's far from a firm date, but at least it gives us a vague idea.

Also for Zelda fans, Iwata teased Skyward Sword and said the MotionPlus controls keep getting better. He also went on to claim that series creator Shigeru Miyamoto is working on "a plan that will allow all Zelda lovers to celebrate [Zelda's 25th anniversary] together."

Of course, Ocarina will miss the 3DS' March 27 launch, so you'll have to make do with one of the other 16 games set for release.

It's funny. This is the game that has me the most excited about the 3DS, as the original still stands in my memory as my favorite game of all time. But I'm also very nervouse to re-play it. What if it doesn't hold up?

It's such a big and long game I don't really see myself playing it on a portable..

"Big and long games" have been on portables for years. Do you usually skip them? Portables are great for quick games, but plenty of people play RPGs and other "long" games on them.

I prefer "big and long games" on portables, actually.

That way I'm not tethered to one room in the house (or, hell, even to the house). Much more likely to make it through a long game when I can just pick it up, play for an hour, put it to sleep, and come back later.

Yeah, sleep mode is a godsend for these longer games. I would have given up on JRPGs entirely if not for portables.

I like to immerse myself in long gaming sessions, and I prefer to do that on big screens. That being said, Link's Awakening is on of my favorite Zelda.. I'll definitely give OoT a look though just to see it in 3D.

See, I can't do that. I can't make myself sit in one place and play a game for more than one or two hours. WoW raiding at about 3 hours is pretty much the limit of it, and even then the last hour or so I'm twitching and alt+tabbing.

Zelda games always stand the test of time, even the NES games are fun to play, if only for the music!

You know what? I'm nervous about this play through also, what if the new content they added screws it all up? At least I read somewhere it will have new content..

I don't remember seeing any new content mentionned. Anyone?

It will be fine. I've replayed many an old Zelda game and while graphically, you see the limits of the tech back then, the core game itself is timeless. The premise of the game has always been to save the princess but each adventure manages to endear itself with the hardcore gamers.

Hey, I love my Crysis, Ninja Gaiden, and Starcraft 2, but the Zelda series is still one of the best series out there in gamedom.

When I've played the old Zeldas or even the Half life 2 I don't get bored, I think it's good leel design.
