Trendy Entertainment will be showing an impressive bit of 4-piece cross-platform play today at the Game Developers Conference, which it claims is "a first for this industry." The company sent an announcement that its tower defense action-RPG, Dungeon Defenders, will be demoed with multiplayer across the PlayStation 3, Windows PC, iOS, and Android devices.

The session is titled "Breaking the Cross Platform Multiplayer Barrier," and will show off common multiplayer features like matchmaking and buddy lists working across the various platforms. "The industry is inevitably moving towards platform-agnostic interconnectivity for multiplayer and anytime/anywhere access to in-game content," said COO Jeremy Stieglitz in the announcement.

The title is the only iOS game besides Infinity Blade to use the Unreal Engine 3. The game is already out for PC, iOS, and Android, and was also used as an example during Sony's reveal of the NGP. It's due for Xbox Live Arcade and PSN later this year.
