Dragon Age 2 Demo Now on Xbox Live, PC and PS3 Due Soon [Updated]
by Steve Watts, Feb 22, 2011 8:00am PST[Updated: 13:56] The PC demo is now out and can be downloaded from FileShack in English, French and German flavours.
[Original] The anticipated demo for Dragon Age 2 has hit Xbox Live Marketplace this morning, exclusively for Gold members, coming in at a whopping 1.98 GB. As previously reported, the demo is due for the PC and PlayStation 3 today as well, so we expect to see them available later.
Completing the demo will net you Hayder's Razor, a special blade and one of many pre-release goodies. BioWare has also promised two more items (boosting money and XP) if the demo is played by a million users. Users will have to log in to their EA accounts to be counted towards the tally, so downloading the demo over and over again won't work, cheaters.
The full game will be coming March 8, so you still have time to consolidate all of your pre-release loot.
Kinect for Xbox One coming to PC
Xbox One does not provide any built-in DVR capabilities
Xbox One increases friends lists to 1,000
Xbox One achievements dynamic, not limited to single games

Now I know I'm far more concerned over the derp factor in this game rather than the gfx, but it would still be nice to have the ability to max out the demo thus getting an actual representation of the final product.

Seriously .... no thanks. I have another origin story in DA:O to play to tied me over until Witcher 2 comes out. Keep your sell out game!

Probably because I maxed out the player stats? In an RPG my attention to the game seems to be directly related to increasing my player's stats and collecting 'stuff'. As soon as the game switches over to, "OK, no you MUST take this path and there's no turning back... oh, and you're not going to get anything for it but a cutscene at the end," I completely lose interest.

With that being said, wtf is everyone saying EA had their hands in this? Yes the combat is different, but it is much smoother, and the faster placed combat gives a more brutal feel to me.
The core mechanics are practicially exactly the same just with interface enhancements - at the end of the day this is the same game with new combat mechanics and mainly animations.

I'm very disappointed. This is not an RPG in the sense of the old games, it's D&D Dynasty Warriors.
Nerd rant bit: Also, the detail of the models (geomtry, not necessarily textures) is rather lacking in parts, especially props in the intro cinematic that show a torch comprised of 6 polygons in total. Don't deliberately zoom in on shit like that guys, you knows its awful.
Anyway, this is not on my Steam wishlist any more, might wait for the Dragon Age 1 to go on special instead, and in the meantime go back to playing Baldur's Gate. Again.

I impulse-bought DA:O, hoping that it will be similar.

Each class feels viable, but the biggest improvements have to be to two-handed weapon warriors and archer rogues. They are a lot better than in the first one.
