Evening Reading
by Garnett Lee, Feb 18, 2011 5:00pm PSTThis is one of those three-day holiday weekends with signature sporting events here in the United Stated. The NBA makes a weekend out of the midseason break with the Rookie Challenge tonight, 3-pt and Slam Dunk Contests tomorrow night, and then the All-Star game Sunday. NASCAR starts the season with its "The Great American Race", the Daytona 500.
Seems to me a couple of games missed out on their chance be part of the weekend's festivities. Bulletstorm and Killzone 3 both come out next week, but plenty of people would have enjoyed making their weekend out of either of them. Granted, it's not an issue outside the US, but if either had released this past week...well, it's hard to beat a three-day weekend and a new game. Eh, maybe it's for the best; it just means more time for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and catching up on all the other games I want to play.
Here are the top video game news stories from today on the Shack:
Killzone: Mercenary shoots onto Vita on September 10
Trion Worlds hit with more layoffs, Defiance team impacted
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault defending Vita next week
Game & Wario was originally going to be pre-installed on Wii U
The Last of Us digital download lets you start playing sooner

Over many a quaint and curious volumes of steam games,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As if someone gently ringing, ringing at my front door.
‘Tis some salesman’, I yelled, ‘dinging at my front door.
Only them and nothing more.
Open here I flung the door, when, with many a fit and flutter,
And there stood a stately postman of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obscene was he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with ease of lord or lady, put down upon my welcome mat –
Put down upon the text of welcome, just near my front door –
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
‘Be that figure our sign of gifting, elephant or fiend!’ I yelled up starting –
‘Get thee back into the truck and take the box!
Leave no package as a token of that soul hath spoken!
Leave my solitude unbroken! – quit delivering to my door!
Take thy presence out of here, and take thy package from off my door!â€
Quoth the package, “WHITE ELEPHANT 2010!!!â€
