by Xav de Matos, Feb 17, 2011 5:00pm PSTSince playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds for review [Read it here!] and battling heroes and villains in DC Universe Online [Read the Field Report!] I've really been interested in revisiting the comic book franchises these games are connected to.
Other than Walking Dead volumes and reading Y: The Last Man from start to finish again, I haven't paid a lot of attention to the world of comics. When it comes to these super hero/villain franchises, where do I even start?
I mean this in the sense of the last half decade, so there's no need to throw me recommendations to read Batman: Year One. In recent history, what comic books have captured your attention? I did get that free one month of Marvel's digital subscription when I bought my own copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Any recommendations?

The blue user names might undergo a recoloring because after reading these over and over, I feel like they fight too much against the blocks of grey text from older one-line previews. Also, the posts that are going to come from news topics that show up as root threads, those will be styled different. Not too different, but scrolling through a page at a glance I want people to be able to catch what's a news story, and what's a post by someone here who can't manage to find his way into a vagina.
Overall, these are getting close and i doubt I will make too many other changes. They want to launch soon and I don't want this to hold anything up. Besides I have too much stuff going on to spend much time with these at the moment.
After launch, I'll work on my own version of the comments that will be...... not very shacknews, but I think quite awesome. They said they will implement a selector so people can choose.

1) what happened to that username style? I liked it quite a bit -- http://cl.ly/0v3G0c1N3t302p1w3C0i (too distracting perhaps?)
2) is it possible to decrease the brightness of the "ontopic >>" tags so they don't add to the noise? something like #666 to #888. I don't know that there is much value in making these as prominent as the post text.
3) can you change the border color for bottom left and round corners of OPs to match the background color? otherwise some browsers display some slight artifacts even though border-width is 0 (due to border-radius).
