Report: New 'Packaged' Assassin's Creed Coming Sometime This Year; Details in May
by Xav de Matos, Feb 14, 2011 11:00pm PSTWith word that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood has shipped a cool 6.5 million units since launching worldwide, it appears that Ubisoft isn't ready to put the franchise on a window sill to cool off.
According to Kotaku, Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot said a new packaged Assassin's Creed game will launch this year. The report also states that more details on the project will be released in May.
In July 2010, Ubisoft associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin said that he personally felt video game franchises need room to breathe and should ignore annual release traps, including the Assassin's Creed franchise. To his credit, Boivin also stated that business could override his personal thoughts because, "at the end of the day it's about selling games." If a 2011 release proves to be true, it's a simple case of Ubisoft's booming Assassin business showing no reason to stop for the time being.
