At Activisions Q4 2010 earnings call, the company announced an impending toy cross-promotion to be unveiled at Toy Fair. Today the company revealed Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, a multi-platform revival of the adorable dragon with interactive toys to be sold in stores like Toys 'R' Us.
The game allows players to bring their toys into the game world, and the figures are said to remember stats like achievements and level-ups as they're taken in and out of the game. Each character comes with its own powers, and players can bring in two toys at once to play cooperative or versus modes.
The game and technology are the product of Toys for Bob, a California-based Activision studio behind various licensed games based on animated properties. The story was written by Alek Sokolow and Joel Cohen, two of the Academy Award nominated writers from Pixar's break-out hit Toy Story.
The game is set to come out this fall on "multiple gaming platforms, as well as on handheld gaming devices, mobile devices and on the web." Check out the toy gallery to see the figures for yourself.
