You needn't know about that yet. When you do find out, though, know that you're in all our hearts and minds, you brave star you.
We must save this fabulous mural from being destroyed.
Everything becomes more pleasant with a burst of noise. Not that rubbish 'white' noise all the squares are listening to, no, proper noise, like pink or red/brown noise.
Why does modern literature favour the tragic over the comic? It's certainly not what the Ancient Greeks, those idolised originators of our culture, thought. Sure, you could apply this thinking to video games, if you fancy. And why not!
Lastly, you positively must read Duncan Fyfe's cripplingly wonderful Bad Dreams, a short story from the perspective of a video games PR person.

Hey guys, do you remember hearing about some game that was kind of minecraftish (before Minecraft though) in that it was a huge sandbox world where you had to harvest resources to build things? It had a very surreal visual style and some esoteric name. There was supposed to be a whole network of AI dudes that build up cities and there were turrents and power networks and stuff.
Everyone was all jizzy about it when the guy made some preview videos but now I don't know how to find out if it ever released.

Once I could get in, I spawned over a huge chasm full of water. I dropped into the water and drowned. Then I respawned in the same place and the same thing happened. This went on for about an hour with my trying to find a way out of the pit before drowning. Finally I found out that by relogging, I would get randomly moved to a different spot. So, I did that and wandered around for a while. For a server that was at capacity, it was remarkably empty. I think I saw one other player during the couple hours I was on. It's like if you join a Minecraft server, only instead of everyone spawning in the same place, everyone spawns somewhere within 500 miles of each other. Eventually I found some kind of obelisk that seemed like I should be able to do something with it, but I had no idea what. I never found anything I could really interact with. Eventually I wandered into some area where I saw some blinking lights, discovered that they were enemy turrets and died a lot.
While the graphics were very interesting aesthetically, it really hampered making the game approachable, because you can't figure out what you're looking at until you get close to it and the enemies can shoot you from anywhere that they have line of sight. So you might die long before you see them.
There was an official Love Teamspeak server that was running for people in the game to join so they could work together, but the server only allowed 20 people to be connected at once, so I never was able to get in. I guess there's a wiki now, though. I was really into the concept of a beautiful procedural MMO to explore, but the guy seems too attached to the idea of a vertical learning curve. I think he's even talked about it on his blog. And in the end, it seems like learning it is the only thing the game has going for it so far.
