        I only read The Fountainhead but the themes in that were so obvious that it ended up detracting from the story. I didn't even know really anything Ayn Rand or objectivism when I read it either, but it was very clearly politically motivated. It actually made for some interesting characters but you kind of got the idea after a short period of time and then it just started to become overblown.
        
        And then she just threw away whatever subtlety she had in the storytelling towards the end when Howard Roark gave his insanely long speech (which I'm told is dwarfed by Galt's in Atlas Shrugged).
