Police Quest: SWAT Kicks in GOG's Door
by Alice O'Connor, Feb 10, 2011 7:00am PSTAfter re-releasing Sierra's Police Quest series last month, digital distributor Good Old Games today added the first two games from the series' SWAT sim spin-offs.
Police Quest: SWAT and Police Quest: SWAT 2 are offered in a handy, DRM-free, $9.99 bundle. While the first game took an FMV-heavy, adventure game-ish approach to simulating SWAT missions, the second became more of a top-down tactical game.

Police Quest: SWAT and its sequel.Starting with SWAT 3, the series shifted to a conventional first-person shooter perspective while keeping the sim style. Fingers crossed that we'll see those next.

I bought SWAT 1 and 2 on eBay a few years ago but never played them. I think I'll rebuy them on GoG for the convenience.

Remember when Cops were kick ass in games and film?
Now they just serve as annoyances in open world games and bad buddy cop movies staring old action stars.
I heard max payne isn't even a cop anymore in 3. It better not be die hard 3...

Much of the game consists of being presented with situations, getting limited information about them (via something like a snake cam), and formulating a plan based on what you know. Sometimes it turns out incredibly well, making you feel like a bad ass. Sometimes the game laughs at your attempts to best it. But either way, if you're a fan of FPSs in the vain of Rainbow Six Vegas, or even if you're not, it's worth a shot.
