Rift Open Beta Begins Next Week

Following a string of closed beta events where invitations were handed out by the bucketload, a properly open beta test for Trion Worlds' MMORPG Rift will kick off on February 15 then run until February 21, the developer has announced.

Players will be able to check out the first 42 character levels from the PC MMORPG, across several PvP warfronts and a variety of zones and dungeons.

The open beta event, dubbed 'Telara the Merciless,' will begin at 10am PST on Tuesday, February 15 and end at 10am PST on Monday, February 21. Head thisaway to sign up. Following that, players who have pre-ordered will be able to play in a 'head start' event from February 24, leading up to Rift's release on March 1.

SWTOR is the only mmo that will be worth playing because it is actually bringing new ideas into the mix. All these other 3rd rate MMO's are WoW clones that are all destined to fail before they even release because they see being a WoW clone as an actual selling point (short term)! The only way to be successful in the long term is to distance yourself as far from WoW as possible. People want to play NEW games, not games that are nearly identical to WoW.

    More I hear from early leaks/testers the more I'm thinking this might actually be true. Because of it's huge potential and hype and more importantly it's expectations , it may do some extreme damage to future big budget mmorpg's. I'm hoping not as the more good mmorpg's out there the better , but I'm starting to worry about SWTOR. Rift is fun enough though for me to play at least for a while , not different a lot , but enjoyable at least.
