Harmonix Confirms Layoffs Due to 'Current Product Development Plans'
by Steve Watts, Feb 07, 2011 2:15pm PSTAn undisclosed number of full-time Harmonix employees were laid off today, Joystiq reports. The downsizing was to bring the company "into alignment with our current product development plans." Reportedly 12-15% of the 240-person staff has been affected by the layoffs.
Sources say this won't impact future projects or current downloadable content plans for Rock Band 3 and Dance Central. Currently, we know Harmonix is working on an unnamed 3DS game, but its other future plans are unknown.
Harmonix went independent a few moths ago, after financial losses led Viacom to sell it. A lawsuit for lost wages is still pending.
