NPD Reveals Platform-Specific 2010 New Game Charts

7
The NPD group has released a more detailed list of 2010's best-selling games per platform, Gamasutra reports, featuring a breakdown for all home consoles and handheld systems. We saw a similar physical sales top-ten chart last month, but it combined platforms and included games from previous years, so these new figures give more specificity.

The full breakdown per console is below, but a few points of interest jump out at us. Now that Mass Effect 2 is coming to the PlayStation 3, both it and the Xbox 360 have only two console-exclusives listed in their top 10. Notable absences include the PS3-exclusive Heavy Rain, and any Kinect games--the latter coming as a surprise considering Microsoft's boast that the peripheral has been a commercial smash hit.

God of War was popular, appearing on both the PS3 (God of War 3) and PSP (God of War: Ghost of Sparta) lists. And though Nintendo is often called out for dominating with its first-party software, the same could be said of Sony taking 4/10 on PSP and 2/10 on PS3.

They track retail sales of PC games, which were included in the overall Top 10 list. But yeah, it wouldn't be very representative since a very large portion of the sales are digital and NPD can't track those.
