Double XP this Weekend in Call of Duty: Black Ops

10
This weekend, Treyarch is hosting its first "Double XP" multiplayer event in its commercial smash-hit Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Though the event was surely scheduled to coincide with the release of the game's first downloadable content pack, players on all platforms are invited to the additional experience. The DLC pack, "First Strike," is currently only available on the Xbox 360.

Running today (it has already begun) through February 7 at 8am (PT), Black Ops soldiers on the PC, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 can earn the bonus experience.

No I said this because the Call of Duty series has turned into shit. Call of Duty 1 and 2, were amazing with gameplay and were worthy of being called a first person shooter. Now what Call of Duty has turned into is a mess of Spray and Pray bullshit.

I thought CoD 1 and especially 2 were tired rehashes of the same WW2 gameplay that had been beaten to death at the time with the same old boring weapons.

I much prefer a run and gun game...its true that the CoD series has never been on the skill level of a Quake game and never as fun for me...but I do see it as taking the things I liked from Counterstrike and removing some of the stuff I detested from CS that kept me away from it for the most part. I can tolerate CoD4 and BLOPS just like I can enjoy BC2 (for different reasons)...even though I miss the sort of games that used to be made in the late 90's back when things were cool. A good FPS game is about doing a 180 degree snap shot nailing someone with a blast to the face without stopping movement and perhaps jumping off a ledge and killing a guy before you hit the ground. Fuck realism.
