by Garnett Lee, Feb 04, 2011 12:00pm PSTGood friend of the show Christian Spicer joins Garnett, Jeff, and Jeff this week. They've been playing a number of games, filling Whatcha' Been Playin? with Magicka, the Witcher, a new run through Halo: Reach and Red Dead Redemption, a report from Namco's 2011 preview event, and more. Your conversations about last week's announcement of the Sony NGP get things started in the Warning, which continues through to some of our "happiness" games. And in the news, more on the post-launch features planned for the 3DS and cloud computing for PS3 and Steam headline the Front Page.

You know, honestly, I think that the 'Duty Calls' advertising is possibly the worst piece of advertising I've ever seen in my entire life -- possibly worse than 'Your Mom Will Hate This'.
When you're trying to sell something, it's the sign of an insecure man that he will attempt to belittle his competition, instead of expressing his own best qualities. One should win on one's own merit, not because the other was put down. I believe advertising, and indeed life in general, should work on the principles of expressing why you are the best, not why you're better than the others.
Why not find comedic material from within the game itself, instead of poking fun at CoD?
There's a difference between successful satire and taking the piss; this is most certainly not the former.

But I found Duty Calls to be funny. I would hope that all the CoD developers (Treyarch, IW) did too. If you can't laugh at yourself, you're probably taking yourself far too seriously.
