Deus Ex: Human Revolution Media Is Jolly Nice
by Alice O'Connor, Feb 03, 2011 10:00am PSTNew Deus Ex: Human Revolution screenshots and a trailer have arrived, offering a look at the opening sections of Eidos Montreal's prequel to the hallowed RPG created by Ion Storm.
In short, it's looking nice, very nice. I'm happier than ever to have named it one of my most-anticipated games of 2011.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution is scheduled for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 some time this year. The game was once due to launch before April but ended up delayed to allow time for "further polish."

Would you distrust an augmented human?

Transhumanism here is an allegory for a high visible, highly divisive socio-cultural sea change. By its nature human augmentation becomes a trait that can't be masked or concealed, it's like racism. Deus Ex sets it up wonderfully with Anna Navarre and Gunther Hermann, both received heavy mech augs, both are feared and discriminated against by the very people they're tasked to protect.
Obviously there is a clear line in the sand b/w a normal human and a transhuman in terms of appearance, and the bigots quickly latch onto those characteristics.
