Evening Reading
by Garnett Lee, Jan 26, 2011 5:00pm PSTLast night I grabbed the Xbox 360-exclusive Crysis 2 demo and played it for a couple hours. That proved to be plenty of time for me to see some of the struggles developer Crytek faces in bringing their technology to consoles. Much like the original Crysis overwhelmed the PCs of its day; this latest version of the engine seems to be pushing the limits of its intended hardware. While mostly running at a "locked" 30 frames per second, response to the controls felt sluggish in a way that left the impression that the 360 was having a tough time keeping up with the game.
With this generation of consoles lasting a while--Xbox 360 launched in late 2005, PS3 a year later--the passage of time gives PC gaming hardware an increasingly substantial advantage. At something like say $1000, a modern entry-level gaming rig can be had that packs an awful lot of power. And with so many multiplatform games including PC in the mix, wouldn't it be funny if the PC wound up being the best place to play them after so much energy went to making them console-friendly.

Does the sequel to oblivion look: http://www.gameinformer.com/games/the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim/b/xbox360/archive/2011/01/24/skyrim-building-better-combat.aspx?PageIndex=2
I read that combat overview article twice.
I am not embarassed to say this - were I able to get an erection by things related to games, I would have had an erection, due to that thing related to a game.
But games don't do that for me, like they do for seemingly everyone else. When I met Allyx in HL2, I told her I just wanted to be friends, but we could still hang out.
But god damn, read that combat overview, compared to oblivion. I wanna platonic relationship THE FUCK out of AssR.. Skyrim. And that's taking in to account the -50% mollyneax debuffs any exciting and impressive news about a new game to which you look forward have suffered in the industry since Black and. WHYYY

I don't know how they will balance the shouts. I dunno if it's gonna be a dudebro screaming thing that tries to make it feel badass. Elder scrolls isn't that type of badass, but maybe it will fit the scene.
The custom tailored quests to dungeons you haven't visited gives me some pause. It makes me wonder if they will be such generic quests that the location isn't important. The dungeon isn't tailored to the particular quest. So you might have a target enemy to kill thrown in the back of a random dungeon. There may be generic repetitive dialogue introducing and executing said quests. That would leave no character and a blatant feel of being tossed random shit.
I'd prefer a custom made quest that has some character. Though maybe they have a ton of solid unique quests and they just try to execute them based on what your character is. In that case the dungeon still isn't tailored to it.
That's the max of my negative nancy. The rest is a huge jizz explosion. I have to worry about some of it to take my blue ball's swelling down.
