Magicka Sells 30,000 Copies in One Day

Paradox announced today in a press release that the co-op fantasy action game Magicka has gotten off to an impressive start, selling over 30,000 copies in the first 24 hours alone. The sales success rocketed the game to #1 on the Steam charts.

"The reception for Magicka has been better than we dared to hope," said Paradox Interactive producer Shams Jorjani in the press release. "Single player and LAN is what most people are currently playing but updating the multiplayer lobby and continuously improving the game is our top priority."

The team at Arrowhead Studios is currently looking into bug reports from the community and promises more announcements to come. The first of its updates came just last night, with a variety of tweaks and improvements.

Within 30 seconds of actually getting into a game with my friends, we managed to push someone through a wall into the void. Then I accidentally killed everybody else by shooting them with a boulder, causing them all to crash.

For $10, this is one of the best purchases I've made in quite a while. Yes, the game is a bit buggy, but the devs are keeping to their word of a patch every 24 hours. Regardless, It's a great game and mindless fun. Definitely glad I made this purchase!

Great Game! About the most annoying thing in the world though, is when you get interrupted in the middle of a spell, and you now can't finish the chain, and nothing happens. That is the number one reason I die.

Defeating powerful enemies and not getting anything from them (unlike Diablo) is also kind of a let down. And yes, I do know this game is not an RPG or an Action game. I'm just saying.

Yet overall, I'm still staying up past my bedtime to play this game! The ability to combine spells is pure awesome.

I couldn't get it on the first day but I'm definitely buying it today! The demo was lots of fun, and I love the slight learning curve of figuring out all the elements and then coming up with creative ways to take down enemies. Sometimes the results are just downright hilarious. I'd love to see more games like this that are creative, fun, and require a bit of thinking and skill to master.

Just completed the first mission. Very fun game for $10. We need more games like this. Also, having a demo helps. Sure it's only $10 but $10 is still $10. You might as well try the demo and see if you like it. I will be playing some more tonight.
