by Xav de Matos, Jan 25, 2011 5:00am PSTVacation's over. I really enjoyed my time away from work, exploring some of the great spots buried within Chicago. It was a hectic time in the city due to the face-off between the Bears and the Pack. It didn't turn out well for Bears fans.
What did turn out well was Never Not Funny, live at the Congress Theater. The show was hilarious as usual, Daver sang the theme and the crew sang along at the end. As an added bonus, I had the pleasure of meeting the crew. What a classy group of gentlemen.
Well, it's back to work for me. Next time I'll be sure to remember to take more than two days off. Maybe.

What's a good way to use tofu? I guess more specifically, what's the best way to give it some flavor? Can I marinate it in terriyaki sauce or something so it doesn't always taste like... nothing?

RIFT is a mmo with strong PvE and additional PvP cross-server battlegrounds. Open beta is from tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) and runs through 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011.

Guild
Yes, there will be one. GCR is the old standby, but surely we can come up with something witty and new.
The guild will be for Shackers and friends, however, guild positions will be reserved for shackers who have been active posters for a least one year. The best model we can hope to emulate here is the excellent Shack guild in LotrO where cooperation and having fun are the main goals.

For beta, feel free to play either faction, although it's mostly likely we will roll with the time-traveling cloned Defiant faction at launch unless there is a mass movement to do otherwise.

PvE vs. PvP server
Pro PvE: Rift was designed as a PvE game with PvP elements. As such, there are already contested areas and cross-server battlegrounds for PvP. Rolling on a open world PvP server could potentially impact the quality and quantity of time spent doing PvE content while at the same time forcing you to maintain only PvP friendly class builds. It's been my experience that open world PvP is usually a thrown together affair meant to appease a core audience without much concern as to how it breaks or hinders a game not designed with that dynamic in mind.
Pro PvP: If you have a serious case for it, state it.
