League of Legends 'Cooperative' Mode Announced

9
The DotA-inspired, free-to-play League of Legends (LoL, as we do so enjoy calling it) is getting a new 'Co-op vs AI' mode that'll pit players against a team of wily bots, developer Riot Games announced today.

While LoL does already have basic AI-controlled bots, those in the new mode are said to be "more challenging and complicated," using tactics like ganking and defending key map areas. The selection of champions the bots can play will also be expanded.

Furthermore, players will gain more Influence Points and XP in the new co-op mode than they would by simply beating up on helpless bots in regular custom games.

Co-op vs. AI mode is due to launch "soon," whenever that is. And How Soon is Now?

Cant really see a point to this other than training newbies to the game.

Testing out champions with less retarded ai and not having spackers wail and moan if you suck with them?

Maybe to enjoy the game without having to play against elitist assholes, which unfortunately all DotA games seem to be full of?

          No, code hit it...

Unfortunately they just do the same thing those elitist assholes do. Reason why I don't play DotA or any of the clones, cause it's just all about gang raping other characters that are alone.

If you're alone at certain points in the game, you're doing it wrong. That's why they have sight wards you can plop down so you can see ganks coming. It's fine if you don't like the game, but there are ways to not "be that guy" who's dying alone all the time.

The best thing about LoL is the accessibility. You don't need to have the "skill" to deny creeps/towers and manage the shape of the fights in your lane, and dying early doesn't cost you the game. If you understand the flow of the game, you can come back from making all kinds of mistakes.

HoN seems to have captured the vast majority of the really serious douche population...I actually find the majority of the LoL crowd to be fairly reasonable people. Of course there are some clueless morons and raging assholes, but that's gonna happen anywhere on the internet.

Anyway, new mode sounds awesome for trying things out, which the game badly needs. Maybe people will take some time to practice stuff before the roll in to your game and suck.

I played HoN, but didn't play LoL after I saw almost all the characters are just micro-transactions so you can play them.

In general I've just found it's all about ganging up on the straggler and the weakling or whoring it up as much as possible in whatever way is possible, which usually results in gang rapes. I never said I always always the guy out there alone that takes it up the bum, but I like doing more then swarming around in a group.

I really like Lol/DotA game play. The Intricacy of the classes and the balance in how they interact... and I had a blast playing it in lan games with my friends when it came out. But... I only played it at lan games since there were no interesting bots... and that wasn't enough to learn it well and soon my friends were much better than me... now at lan games it's not nearly as much fun. I have 0 desire ot log onto real matches when I suck and endure days or weeks of people hating me because I am causing them to loose. So this change sounds great to me, I can learn and level up my character alone and have the skills to have fun with my friends when we get together to play :)
