The UK Collector's Edition of IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover harkens back to the era of feelies with a 150-page, ring-bound set of instructions, a cloth map--a "pilot escape map," we're told--and a replica of the actual Spitfire I notes provided to pilots during The Battle of Britain. Sadly, this edition has only been confirmed for the UK so far.

As for the game itself, the single-player campaign takes place in The Battle of Britain, from a Brit perspective, and features "over a dozen" flyable planes plus thirteen non-flyable aircraft. Multiplayer offerings will range from deathmatch to "epic, ongoing" 128-player battles publisher Ubisoft says "can last hours, days, weeks, or even longer."

Developed by 1C: Maddox Games, IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover is due out for PC on March 22 in North America then will land in the UK on March 25. We've contacted Ubisoft to see if the CE will come Stateside too.

On the DRM front--a hot topic with any Ubi game--the CE box notes only "Internet connection required to activate game." Third-party games published by Ubisoft often have lighter DRM than the draconian solution used in its own internal creations, which has been relaxed recently anyway.
