Morning Discussion

Wishing the USA an enjoyable, yet appropriately sombre, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

I spent my entire weekend curled up on the sofa, smothered by dressing gowns, pillows and blankets, doing little beyond playing Fable III--a Crimble present--from beginning to end. Coughing so much I couldn't get to sleep before five in the morning, when I collapsed in exhaustion, certainly helped with that. I'm stunned that This Internet is still nagging "When will we have the 'The Wire' of video games?" when this stunningly faithful and cutting recreation of British life is already amongst us. You people...

finished KOTOR 2 on the weekend, apparently I'd stopped playing pretty close to the end on my original run through, because of a lot of it was really familiar. It was a good game, but not especially compelling, and the final battle was pretty annoying

Game pissed me off so much. Got a crash bug going into the Ebon Hawk halfway through that I could never solve. :[

I kept having load crashes on one of the planets, I had to quicksave before any zone changes

I remember the level design on that game being really bad. I couldn't too fat in that game. Loved the original.

I couldn't too fat either, hate when that happens.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I was too fat for the whole game.

Would you recommend playing through 1 and 2 these days? I'm thinking more from a BioWare perspective than Star Wars probably.

i don't see why not, it was fun and diverting for awhile when I was looking to play something different, I also picked the bald black guy with the beard so i imagined all of my dialogue in samuel l jacksons voice

"I've had it with these motherfucking sith, in this motherfucking galaxy"

KOTOR 1 was truly awesome. KOTOR 2 did not live up to it, but on its own its not bad. It is unpolished, kind of wonky in the pacing, and the whole game feels uninspired but its worth playing if you end up enjoying KOTOR 1. Maybe I will acutally finish 2 someday, i made it about 80% through and got distracted by something else, but I still have my saves somewhere i think.

Yes. Look for the widescreen hack, and it looks pretty good at high resolutions!!!

Only 1 was made by BioWare, so there you go. 2's an acquired taste. It's a worse game but a much better story.

Yup. KOTOR 2 has a great story that mostly survives the cuts and rough edges.

It's too bad it couldn't live up to KOTOR1, and that I won't see a KOTOR3 until I am on my deathbed. The MMO doesn't count. At all.

I will always maintain that if the game had been finished it would have been better than the original.

I'm so behind on these Star Wars games, I really should have my gamer card taken away because I've never even played KOTOR. :(
