And just like that, another week's worth of 2011 has been successfully strong-armed through the wood-chipper. Fargo-style. Not to worry though. There are still fifty glorious weeks left, which, of course, means fifty more weeks worth of new game releases to look forward to.

And speaking of dismemberment, I'm pretty excited to get my hands on a copy of Dead Space 2, soon. I've been doing my best to steer clear of the media and hype about the game so far (so as not to ruin the surprises), but the preliminary word on the street has been pretty positive. Here's hoping!

But enough speculation. I believe there is a chatty that would like to make your acquaintance. Play nicely, everyone.

Who here keeps up with the GPU industry? I'm considering a videocard upgrade now that I'm finally gaming in glorious 1080p. The thing is, I don't have any games that run really poorly, but Bad Company 2 and GTA IV are noticeably choppier than before. I was running at 1280x1024 on a Geforce 250 GTS, now I'm at 1920x1080 on the same card.

Basically, what's the timeline for the next generation of offerings from Nvidia and ATI/AMD? I hate buying something unknowingly one month before the new hotness comes out. Have any announcements been made yet?

  Definitely go with the Radeon HD 6950. It is $300, but a great value. It can be softmodded into an HD 6... : DiSToRTNx

    Read the review on HardOCP.com, they have the best, most realistic reviews. They don't run canned benchmarks like most other sites, but instead run real-world tests based on highest playable game settings. It paints AMD cards in a much different light. Take note also, that they run their benchmarks largely at 2560x1600 (well above 1080p), which I don't do, so you can push quality settings even higher at 1080p. I own one myself and am VERY pleased. I've owned both nVidia and AMD/ATI so I'm not biased.
    
    Their article can give you lots more detail. Look at the 6970 results vs. the 580 GTX since your 6950 is basically the same card. They also offer a SLI vs. Crossfire comparison article (in case you want to upgrade later on), which AMD has traditionally been crappy at, but have made major strides to surpass SLI in many cases (don't know if this will continue to be the case, but it's definitely a good step forward):
