Portal 2 Will Feature New Jonathan Coulton Song
by Steve Watts, Jan 13, 2011 5:30pm PSTJonathan Coulton had been writing geek-hip songs before Portal, but his pop number during the end credits vaulted him into a nerd icon. Today the songwriter confirmed that he will be contributing a new song to Portal 2. "If this plane goes down, the Portal 2 song goes with it," he tweeted. "It is in my pocket."
We can count on more of his signature wit, but the song won't recycle jokes from the first game. Valve writer Erik Wolpaw mentioned last year that he's sick of Portal memes and has no desire to revive them. That means no cake jokes, but maybe Coulton will surprise us with daring new material on pie.

In fact, Portal itself didn't amaze me to the extent where I thought it was one of the best games made. I really liked it and I found it to be a fun adventure style game, but I couldn't see why people thought Glados was a brilliant character. Glados was a quirky character who fit well into the atmosphere of the game, but I wouldn't go so far as to say she was a dynamic character; She was a female HAL with a bubbly personality.
Ah whatever, I'll still love playing Portal 2 when it comes out, Jonathan Coulton song or not.
