S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Dev: PC Is Primary Platform
by Alice O'Connor, Jan 12, 2011 7:00am PSTIf you freaked out, panicked and otherwise over-reacted at the news that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be multi-platform, you'll be glad to hear that developer GSC Game World assured fans in a Q&A that the PC is still its main development platform
(via VG247).
"Since we develop primarily on PC, you won't see any compromises in the PC version," the developer said. "The key difference between the PC and console versions will be the beauty of graphics (meaning PC will offer more of visual effects)." GSC also insisted that the user interface on PC won't be harmed by multiplatform development.
Summing up what's new, GSC said "In brief, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will offer new story, new set characters (with some good old ones) and, of course, the new engine powering it." That new engine will use shiny DirectX 11. There'll also be more of a survival element.
GSC further revealed that "We'll be locating the game in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2 (where the huge antenna is located)."
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is slated for release in 2012, hitting PC and unconfirmed consoles; Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 seem the most likely targets.

In this case though it is unlikely, GSC will probably build the game they want and try to shoehorn it into the consoles, they may even end up cancelling the console version like Witcher 2. I just hope the game after Stalker 2 will still be PC first.
