Recognizing the excellence and innovation of titles produced by universities and games programs, worldwide, 2011's Independent Games Festival has announced the winners of its Student Showcase competition.

The eight winning games were selected from a crop of over 280 student-developed festival entries, and will receive their respective awards at the 25th Game Developers Conference at the end of February, along with a $500 prize. The winning games will also all be playable at GDC, where one of them will also be awarded an additional $2,500 prize and the distinction of Best Student Game on March 2.
