I got in for a match last night and on my first impression is that I don't know what is going on. When I thought I knew what was going on, this green thing in a t-shirt whipped my ass and then gyrated over my corpse.

1) The Assassin's cloak drops a little when she moves, and gets more obvious the closer she is to you. When she's really close you'll hear the hum of the cloak.
2) Shooting the Assassin reveals her for a split second. If you've got a fast-firing weapon (Assault, Tank, Gunner) spray rounds down an empty hallway to reveal any assassins.
3) Facestabs do less damage than backstabs. All classes except the Sniper, Assassin and maybe the Assault can survive a facestab. So if in doubt, back to a wall.
4) if you really hate being backstabbed, play the Tank or Gunner (?). They can survive a backstab can kill the Assassin super easy.
